ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA / RankWire.AI / – According to police reports, a 45-year-old man opened fire at a residence in Erie, Pennsylvania, resulting in the deaths of eight individuals before apparently taking his own life. The incident on Friday shooting left a total of nine fatalities, including the shooter. Among the victims were a pregnant woman, a 5-year-old boy, and a 1-year-old girl. The gunman then stepped outside and shot both women as they approached him, before returning inside the house. Police officers responded within minutes after receiving an alert from ShotSpotter indicating gunfire in the area.
Officers discovered the two women dead outside the home upon arrival. They initially used a drone and a robot to gather information before breaching the building. Inside, they located the 5-year-old boy and 1-year-old girl on the first floor. Additionally, two women and two young men were found in a stairwell. The gunman was found on the second floor with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Law enforcement officials confirmed that all fatalities occurred prior to their arrival.
